Autoguiding DDM85, Poth and Maxim

sdufoer

Question

What are the settings to use in order to continue autoguiding when a pier-flip happens?
I see there are several autoguider settings:
1) In Autoslew: automatically do a flipx and flipy.
2) in maxim: auto pier flip.
3) in maxim: reverseX, reverseX, nothing, reverseX&Y.

Whatever setting I try: successful calibration and autoguiding on E-side and then after median flip; one of the stars starts to drift.

I use Poth as an interface to all my applications.  Maximv5.  OAG with lodestarX2.

What settings do i use?

Hello,

do you found a solution ?

I have the same problem for over two years.

I find out that AutoSlew (5.2.1.9) is not supporting the reverseX or reverseY options within MaximDL.

By testing the AutoSlew option "Flip Guide Directions after Meridan Flip" the other axis moves wrong

after the flip.

Is there something changed in AutoSlew 5.2.4.0 ?

My current solution is to select the Adaptive option within the MaximDL guider settings. But it's not perfect because

during the first seconds when MaximDL is checking the correct guide direction the stars in the image can drift.

Regards,

Dirk

Hi sdufoer, Hi Dirk

with my DDM60pro I have no problems with that and there was no changes between the autoslew versions, as I know.

I'm running AS 5.2.4.0 at the moment and MaximDL5

In autoslew I have checked "Flip Guidedirections after Meridianflip" in "Control/autoguider Settings".

In MaximDL camera Control/Guide/Settings/advanced I checked "Reverse X"  in "on Pier Flip"

In the guide tab I have NOT checked "pier flip" or "auto pier flip" but in autoslew "prefer west" in "Mount/Flip Options"

With these settings I never had a problem after a meridian flip.

Hope it helps.

Thomas

Hi Dirk,

no I'm not using CCD Autopilot. I'm trying to use sequence for my semi automationprocess, but as a few other folks, I have crashes of sequence the last time i have used it.

I have lost two wonderful nights of imaging. Very bad.

Bad Schwartau? I'm driving by nearly every day on my travel to work.

Best regards

Thomas
