  1. I am sending my DDM85 incremental encode model for repair. I have another mount. So plan to put it up for sale once it fixed and back to original working condition. Is there any one in the group interest in a used DDM85 ? It comes with CWs and transport cases.

I also have a 12N ASA astrograph to go on it too.

Buy either or both. I am motivated and negotiable.

  2. I have to send my DDM85 for service. I plan to ship using the transport case that I own.

    The problem:

I got my mount used. The prior owner has the foam inserts jumbled inside each container. I never used the transport cases having picked it up locally. It would be nice to ship in the cases. However, I am not very good at jigsaw puzzles.  Any one have a picture of what the foam inserts should look like?

  3. We actually Sequence to end and Autoslew to get a upgrade.

There a so many automation programs out there is no need for Sequence.

It requires the use of  unnecessary expensive components such as pinpoint and Max DL. Also, it is way too limited for device support

If we had access to a few non ASCOM features such as MLPT we would have it made.

Let's start a online petition for openning up a few driver options

  4. I just hope that the "New" software that I'm hearing about will solve all these problems. It really needs to be a single integrated package with the functionality of Autoslew, Sequence, the camera control of Maxim (No need of all the other stuff) and PinPoint, plus any other tools that ASA can package in, and be debugged BEFORE release, instead of expecting end-users to be beta-testers.

What irks me about the current package is having to purchase a full version of Maxim just to use the very basic functions of the camera control, not even the autosave sequence. OK, if you can afford a DDM mount it's likely you can afford Maxim as well, but it's just plain wasteful as it stands.

Oh, and could we please have thorough documentation, instead of the sketchy excuse we have now, with important points either not covered, or only hinted at.

Sadly, no news on the "new software "

Not optimistic that it will be an improvement.

ASA has a bad habit of putting out something at the idea stage and not following through.

Where is the new mounts to go with it?

  5. Yes you are right. But what about quality controls ?

For the reputation of such a brand, it is necessary to pay attention to the subcontractors.

I had mediocre mirrors (Chinese) and high quality (skyvision) and despite the years, the mirrors were still good.

    This is really good work.

I agree no QC on the optics and the CF tube.  These parts should never gone into a scope.

  6. I am glad ASA is continuing the development of the DDM product line up.

The company has focused on the large observatory rather than smaller systems for the last few years.

It is nice to see them back in to developing the original core mount product.

My questions. Is there any new features and functions?  Is there an upgrade path for some of this?

Software development?  There was suggestion of new software coming too. Will there be anything for current owners of DDM?

I have been wishing for MLPT function to be used by other by third party programs outside of Sequence.

Perhaps a new SDK will make this available to programmers?

  7. Anyone found a stable version of Autoslew and Sequence ?

I would still get crashes after a number of images using the 5224 and Seq 211

I start using guiding again with SGP because I was frustrated with Sequence.

I had to rollback to 5119 Autoslew due to compatibility problems with SGP.

I might able to try a new version of autoslew since SGP did a update to fix the problem I reported.

I would be nice try MLPT sequence again it would be nice when the bugs are fixed.

  8. Hi Mark ..

I was told a few days ago that I my Moravian G2 Mono CCD does NOT have any special readout modes so I have now been set by ticking the relevant box. Hopefully that will solve one of my problems.

I also found out that my initial problem was probably caused by my Sequence "PersonalSettings" file .config file was probably corrupted when I stopped a Sequence run while it was running. I was advised to delete this file and start over again. Apparently this can happen on occasions.

All seems to be working OK when I do some dummy runs ... but I need to check things out properly when I get a clear night sky.

I reinstalled 2.1.3 and removed all config files. It still crashes.  It goes through sync, MLPT, autofocus then completes 4 to 22 images as planned but then crashes.

I can not find any thing in the logs. Once log end with a relax slew but autoslew is still working. Most just stop after saving an image.

    Emailed ASA.

  9. I just upgraded Sequence from 2.09 to 2.13. I am having the same or similar problem with Seq/MaxIM crashing.   Works normally for several images then crashes.

I use readout modes on my SBIG Camera.  Read out modes and all settings worked fine before the upgrade.
