While it is listed as mag 9, it is big, so there are large zones of very low signal. Shooting conditions were fair: SQL 21.5, but there was some bushfire smoke in the air, so seeing was approx 3.5 arcsec. NGC 300 lies between us and the Sculptor Group - it is only 6Mly away. In spite of its size (19 X 13 arcmin) it is not a popular target. ASA10N at f/3.6; G2-8300 camera; DDM60 unguided; Astrodon filter set; total exposure 4hours 50 min.
