A Dusty Fireworks Galaxy

The Fireworks Galaxy NGC 6946 and the open Cluster NGC 6939 with faint galactic cirrus in the background.

 

ASA 10" Newton, Wynne-Corrector, ASA DDM60

 

Canon 500D, total exposure time 8,5 hours

Hi Thomas,

 

very nice image. Had you not written that it has been taken with a Canon 500D, I would belive that it has been done with a CCD The noise signal ratio is very good.

I'm just missing a litte bit more blue in the images. It's a litte to brown, but this is a matter of personal taste.

There was something wrong with the color calibration so I pushed the blue channel a little bit, maybe not enough.

 

But I think it's ok, because NGC 6946 is obscured by gas and dust of our Milky Way.
