Für wen ist dieses Forum gedacht?

 

Unser Forum ist für jeden der sich Produkte der Firma ASA interessiert und informieren möchte. Wir möchten Interessenten die Möglichkeit bieten sich mit unseren Kunden auszutauschen und sich auch gegenseitig zu helfen.

 

Ist es erlaubt Fragen zu Produkten zu stellen die nicht von der Firma ASA sind?

 

Die Frage ist nicht ganz so einfach zu beantworten. So lange ihre Frage einen Bezug den ASA Produkten hat, wie z.B. welche Software zur Steuerung meiner DDM Montierung?, dann sind sie hier genau richtig. Sollten sie jedoch wissen möchten ob sie bspw. besser eine Montierung/Teleskop etc. der Firma Celestron oder Meade kaufen sollen, dann wenden sich bitte direkt an diese Hersteller bzw. an Foren wie astronomie.de oder cloudynights.

 

 

Ist es erlaubt sich kritisch über ASA Produkte zu äußern?

 

Ja natürlich. Unser Forum ist für den aktiven Informationsaustausch gedacht und sowohl Lob als auch Kritk sind herzlich willkommen, so lange anhand von Fakten diskutiert wird. Beleidigende Äußerungen jeder Art werden gelöscht und der Verfasser gesperrt. Wir arbeiten laufend an der Verbesserung unser Produkte und so sind auch kritische Meinungen sehr hilfreich.

Was pasiert mit der ASA Yahoo Gruppe?

 

Die ASA Yahoo Gruppe hatte den Sinn den Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Interessenten und Kunden zu vertiefen. Aufgrund der limitierten Möglichkeiten haben wir uns entschlossen ein eigenes Forum zu gestallten, um ihnen eine Plattform mit mehr und besseren Möglichkeiten sich zu vernetzen zu bieten.

 

 

Ich habe ein Problem mit der Verwendung dieses Forums was kann ich tun?

Warum gibt es hier Deutsche und Englische Postings?

 

Unsere Kunden sind weltweit verstreut, da wir nicht alle Sprachen sprechen können, haben wir uns dafür entschieden Englisch für die internationale Community und Deutsch für Kunden aus D,Ö und CH einzuführen.

 

[Some general questions about ASA DDM 85]

What is the periodic error of the mount?

Because we use no gears due the direct drive we use, there is no periodic error to indicate and also no backlash. Encoders are mounted direct on the axis to read out 100 times per second and compare target and actual position. Failures are corrected via software in real time. This guaranteed a tracking which is unbelievable accurate.

 

Although the tracking is very accurate, can I connect an autoguider?

Naturally one can connect an Autoguider via Software to control the mount.

 

What happens at power failure?
As you power on again after power failure the mount is searching for the so called Homing Position and is up to know updated for further imaging. That means that you can immediately continue your imaging session. This is a very important factor practice remote imaging.

 

There is no polarscope available on my DDM85/160 - how can I do the polar align?

The accurate alignment is accomplished via software and requires only an expenditure of time of some minutes.

 

Can I apply software like "The Sky", "CCD-Autopilot", "Maxim DL" etc.?

Naturally Autoslew communicates with all those software.

 

What is the current peak on the DDM 85?

With maximum load slewing in both axes at maximum speed the current peak is 20 Amps (depending on the weight load). At Standard Operation 2 Amps.

 

Is it possible to set limits, so that the mount does not move into blocked zones?

Naturally you can set limits to avoid that the mount runs e.g. below the horizon or against a barrier inside the observatory.

 

Why is this mount tracking accuracy much better as other commercial mounts?

The secret is that ASA uses Renishaw Encoders, which are verified electronically and resolve to an unbelievable 0,01-0,02 seconds of arc. Positioning information is communicated by the mellow software developed by Philipp Keller. The tracking accuracy is accomplished by comparing the actual position of the system, 100 times per second in real time. This permits any required corrections to be applied immediately. Dependent on the diameter of the encoder a tracking accuracy of 0,2 - 0,4 seconds of arc is provided without guiding. The Torque motors (direct drives without gears and no backlash) we are using could operate in a range of one-hundredth of arc seconds.

This forum is for everybody who is interested in products sold and developed by ASA. It gives you the possibility to get in contact with ASA cumstomers to tell questions or for asking for help from the community.

 

 

Is it allowed to post questions regarding other products than ASA?

 

This is difficult to answer. If your questions are connecting to ASA products, you are welcome to ask. If you just want to know if you should buy thinks from eg. Meade or Celestron, please visit a forum that's made for such questions like Cloudynights or astronomie.de

 

 

Am I allowed to post critics against ASA products?

 

Yes, this forum is for an open exchange this means you can post what you are thinking but only in a friendly way on facts. To say it clear, if you offend somebody, your posting will be deleted and you will be banned from this forum. As long as you stay on facts critic is highly welcome.

What about the ASA yahoo group?

 

The yahoo group was a great invention to bring the ASA community closer, but yahoo groups in general are very limiting and often very confusing to follow a topic. The ASA forum gives you much more possibilities to discuss and share information.

Why there are also postings in German language?

 

We have serveral customers who are not comfortable in writing in English. To give them also also the possibility to get in contact with the community to get support, we offer the possibility to post in German too. As we use English and German to communicate with our customers, please understand that we can't offer more than this two languages in our forum.
