  1. Hi, i am about to do a workflow with a video of how to do a superfit pointing model, but need some input.

I have already a Working model with some stars, the pointing and tracking is good for 5-10 minutes.

Last night, i did a 120 star autopoint file which i am about to use as a superfit.

    Is this the right workflow?;

    -open advanced pointing file

-calculate and optimize polar, poiting, tracking etc.

    -Calculate and optimize superfit?

    -Apply new model

    - make a new homeposition

Do i have to clear the old configuration at any point or do i apply the new one "on top"?

    /Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

Have you seen this video enclosed in the forum? Last week I did a new Pointing moldel following the instrucions of this video and I have got a good results.

  3. Hello to eveybody,

The last weekend I installed my new telescope that arrived from Germany, I was collimated and I did my first image, the results it seems atractives. Now I am waiting that the weather conditions improve to continue with the testings.

  4. Have you done a 'find home position' routine when you switch on the mount?

I don't think the problem has anything to do with the number of stars in the pointing model.

The ini file should have the correct values for your encoders - it is worth checking this with ASA?

Contact Support and send them the ini file.

    George

    Hi George,

Yes I have done each time I switch on the mount.

Today I have made a pointing model with 22 stars (45 Horizon and 60º Dec) In one of the position has appeared the same message and the mount lost the position.

I will do it, thank you for your recommendation.

  5. Hello Denis,

Thanks a lot for your help. I read yesterday night your message and I restart the Autopoint with 23 Stars, the results has been quite  good!!

I introduced 40º Horizont and 60º in Altitude to make the model in sequence.

But still in some point appears the message, anyway I will try to reduce the values o get better results.

I will let you know it the final result.

  6. Hello to everybody,

Someone have had this kind of message? " Wrong Encoder Position Error"

When I want to do a Autopoint with 84 stars in some positions the mount lose the Encoder position and once I want to do a Park home, the mount it goes  where it want.

I will appreciate your comments about this Issue.

  7. Lluis,

Try different usb cables, and usb hubs in case the tuning doesnt help. Do you loose all connected usb devices or just the mount?

    Hello Lukas,

I loose all the connected USB devices, not only the mount.

This weekend I have removed the USB cables connected to the CCD and the focuser and I have installed this device: http://www.silexeurope.com/en/home/products/usb-device-servers/sx-ds-4000u2.html  that is much better than the Icron, the problem have been solved, but still the mount lost the USB near the meridian, but I think is an issue adjusting the calibration of the motors.

What a pitty...but the USB devices that are included in the DEC are really not functional, I have planning to buy another Silex to connect the Mount directly removing the Icron, this device is much quick and a reliable.

I will keep you informed about my evolution.

  8. A small amount of humming sound when passing through the meridian is quite common. If it is only during slews it does not really matter. If the sound occurs when the mount is tracking then you need to reduce the D parameter a little.

I do not know why you are losing USB contact. I have never experienced that.

    Hello George,

I am going to revise the (PID) configuration this weekend, I prefer to be in the observatory personally, because at 200 km from home vía remote control is not easy to evaluate the (PID), I need to be there to hear the humming sound.

    Thank you for your recomendation!

  9. My experience is with the DDM60, but I think it's a similar issue.

Tuning my system indoors on a wooden floor, I found it impossible to avoid some vibriation during slewing, for any reasonable tuning parameters. There were two causes: the flexibility of the floor(!), and the tripod.

The cure for the first is obvious, but the second problem required a new tripod.

In any event, it is worth checking the tuning (PID) numbers. Provided the system settles in a reasonable time after a slew, there seems little point in having the parameters too stiff.

  10. Hi,

When I first got my DDM85 I had it mounted on a tripod, it also gave humming sounds passing the meridian, I had no connection lost though. I then fixed a solid custom pier and the humming sound was gone, so I recomend you try to make your pier more solid if that could be a indirect course of the problem. Later I had USB connection lost problem using a USB Ranger(fiber) wich I had not expected, changing the USB cables fixed that problem.

    Hi Christer,

Thanks a fot for your comments, I appreciate too much your suggestions. I will take into consideration, first of all I want to check first the configuration for the high speed passing the meridian.

  11. Hello to everybody

I am having a lot of problems with the loss of connectivity...I have changed my computer as per a new one, I also bought and installed an Icron, after this changes, the problem continues having the same problem, so I decided to change all the USB cables with golden plating...but the problem still.

Somebody can help even the ASA people?

    The problem is this one:

Each time the mount through the meridian makes a humming sound or even vibrating, it's just in that point when sometimes USB connection lost.

Since the mount arrived on Sep 2015 I could not do anything and I begin to giving up.
    Somebody can help me?

Note: I attached some picture to show you my installation...maybe you can find something to help. The computer is around 4 mts from the Pier.

  13. Hello Daniel and Jyrki,

I have had a lot of problems with Seletek autofocus with Sequence, here you have the steps I did to recognize the Seletek without problems.

1.- If you have already installed the Sequence, please try to uninstall.

2.- Delete complete the folter ASA located here: C:\ProgramData\ASA\Sequence\PersonalSettings (the most important thing is to remore the ini-file)

3.- Before to Install Sequence, please install the last drivers from seletek (in case you need it) located here: http://lunatico.es/ourproducts/seletek-armadillo-platypus/moreinfo/firmware-and-software.html

    3.1: I have installed: Current version: software 4.5.1 - drivers 2.2 - and firmware 3.3

    4.- Install Sequence version: 0.2.0.8

    5.- Setup all the parameters

6.- Try to run Autofocus...I hope you have lucky with my help.

Please come back to me if you have more doubts or hesitates.

    Best regards,

  14. This is perhaps the most unusual looking object I've ever imaged.  I've provided a fair bit of info about it with the image at the link below.  One interesting thing is that it is one of the largest known spheres, with a diameter of 2.5 light years.  I thoroughly enjoyed imaging this nebula.  The processing was challenging, but I got to try out a few new techniques.  Lots of bonus galaxies to see in this one too...

Hello Ron, amazing image of this nebula. Have you already done the tutorial to the processed this image?

I liked very much! Good color calibration and better extraction of the tiny details.
