MarkS Posted September 22, 2015 Report Share Posted September 22, 2015 This galaxy, supposed to be similar to the Milky Way, is about 38 Mly distant and about 100,000 ly across. It is quite faint, having an integrated magnitude of 11. For comparison, the brightest star in this image is 11th magnitude. The image was shot over two nights with the ASA10 at f/6.8. All subs were binned x2, giving a plate scale of 1.34"/px. Total exposure time 7 hours: 3 hours L, and 80 min each of RGB. processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop.
