  1. Maybe we could get a reduction from ASA or a free upgrade to the latest mount technology for mantaining the Wiki? I think that most of the manuals need to be rewritten anyway, so ASA providing the existing documents is not really a big point here, IMHO.
  2. Christer, go for it. Even if ASA would put up their own wiki, who would write the contents? If it's the same guy writing the documentation it will stay empty for a long time... On the other side, the Wiki you put up is being molded by the community and in my opinion can become very complete in a short amount of time. And it wouldn't rely on ASA, so no access from them/no blocking/whatever.
  3. Waldemar, I updated it with the latest I found...
  4. I created yesterday a page for 'Common Problems': http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Common_Problems It could be a place to collect that information as George suggested. I would also recommend to work a bit on the first/main page, maybe giving it a logical approach which would make sense for a fresh owner of a mount, like: 1) Setup 2) Quick Start 3) Common problems and so on... @Christer: Thanks, I inserted one of Daniel's video's here: http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Balancing#Example_Video Seems like the plugin works fine. @Daniel: The video is nice, but could you (when you find the time) do it with a video capture like you did on the other videos?
  5. Okay, I found the version history of Autoslew (in the installation directory, surprise!) and inserted it into the Wiki: http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Release_Notes
  6. And here a list of supported commands, extracted from the Version History (there might be more): AlignmentMode Altitude AltitudeLimit ErrorRaised ErrorString LocalMeanSiderialTime LocalTime ErrorClear ApertureArea ApertureDiameter Azimuth CanFindHome CanPark CanMoveAxis CanSetCovers CloseCover OpenCover CanPulseGuide CanSetGuideRates IsPulseGuiding MoveAxis CanSetRightAscensionRate CanSetDeclinationRate CanSlew CanSetPark CanSetPierSide CanSetTracking CanSlewAsync CanSlewAltAz CanSlewAltAzAsync CanSync CanSyncAltAz CanUnpark AtHome AtPark FocalLength ForceNextPierSide GuideRateDeclination GuideRateRightAscension Horizonlimit MotorOn MotorOff MeridianFlipMaxAngle RightAscension RightAscensionRate SiderealTime SiteElevation SiteLatitude SideOfPier SiteLongitude ShutDown Slewing SlewSettleTime SlewToAltAz SlewToAltAzAsync TargetDeclination TargetRightAscension Tracking TrackingRate TrackingRates TrackPosition UTCDate AbortSlew Park PointingCorrectionDE PointingCorrectionRA PulseGuide SetPark SetupDialog SlewToCoordinates SlewToCoordinatesAsync SlewToTarget SlewToTargetAsync SyncToCoordinates SyncToTarget Unpark IsDomeInScopePosition
  7. Hm there is a file named "AutoslewUpgradeReport.txt" in the install directory with the changelog. And it mentions that features...
  8. Agreed. @nomis: Could you send me the list of commands that you know are working? I would add them on the Wiki
  9. Hooray to all undocumented features in Autoslew. I honestly don't know of such a feature. It could be interesting in several ways. It would also be interesting if one could control the fan speed in a similar way. I truly dunno...
  10. I discovered today that the latest version of CCD AutoPilot has an "ASA Slew" option, with the following explanation in the help file: Look here: I wonder if there is a new feature around that I don't know about. ASA mount training sounds to me like MLPT...
  11. Daniel, yes, maybe adding a "Tested Hardware" wiki page would be a nice idea. Could you start on that? I will have a look at the videos later on as the next days are very busy ones for me (gonna do a big building work in a few weeks and need to finish all the preparations). Maybe your other ideas could be summarized in some sort of Quick Start tutorial. The single points (like "Manual tune", "Balance" and so on) could link to the respective pages. EDIT: I added a page with your suggestions here: http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Quickstart_for_beginners
  12. Great Daniel, I will try to insert it in the Balancing page. Could be great stuff. Or you could add it yourself EDIT: Christer, could you activate the following extension: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:YouTube? With it, we can insert the videos directly in the wiki.
  13. Oh well... I guess "asausers.org" or "asa-users.org" might hit it.
  14. Hmmm I would be curious to see if it will work again with Win7... Or if it is a different problem...
  15. Daniel, try to change the USB cable as a starter. It could be a driver issue, but I would start with the cable. Then check your power supply to the mount. And even, try another USB port on your computer.
  16. Nigel, Christer already created a changelog for the different versions and inserted what we know. As for the system, I am beginning to really like it. Check this out for an example http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Mount_Tuning It is really easy to edit, even without Visual Editor. And the images are working great now, too
  17. Nigel, we could maybe add something like "Applies to version x and above, or version y and below"?
  18. Christer, great! I added a few more pages of content, it is becoming clear to me that we'll need a big section about Autoslew and another about Sequence. There is plenty of things that need to be said there... Lukas
  19. Regarding the Wiki a question to all users here: If you have time, could you take some screenshots of your setup, either during setup, imaging or even if you see an error? It would be very useful to have enough screenshots to insert them in the Wiki among tutorials and explanations. There are some nice little programs on the internet which make taking a screenshot a breeze, like "Lightshot". As far as I see it, if the community takes the screenshots we wouldn't even run against intellectual property of ASA. Thanks
  20. Christer, okay, thanks. I switched back to the normal Wiki editor (no Visual Editor) and it works fine. The images seem to give issues, though. Were you able to use the Visual Editor to edit the pages? As for the content: I am trying to write down a little bit just to get an idea, and to give an idea to others, on how it might end up. Honestly: I really think this could become a seriously good thing. If everytime an issue gets solved here in the forum the Wiki would also become updated, that would be awesome EDIT: And Christer, it seems to me that the Email system is also not sending any mails.
  21. Christer, I just tried to edit a page, but I got basically an empty page with alot of gibberish text on it, look at http://asauser.cosmonorr.se/index.php?title=Polar_Alignment Basically, I tried to upload a screenshot which is not being displayed, as well as the text that I typed. Seems like the Visual Editor is not working properly
  22. Agreed. What about allowing everybody to register, but only users in a separated user group (let's call them "Editors", or whatever) can edit and add content? And to become an editor, an administrator has to check your status. Or, easier: Every registration needs to be approved by the admin. Maybe doing a cross-check between the user on the wiki and here on the forum would tell if that user owns an ASA piece of equipment or not... As for the Wiki Christer set up: First of all, very clean theme, I like it! Second, the structure: Maybe this should be something that could follow the content? I mean, "Setup" and "Tutorial" would overlap quite a bit. And a "Documents" section, too... I would concentrate more on the topics of every single page/document and then care about the navigation later on as it evolves.
  23. Christer, I might be able to help. Anyway, there is a well documented installation guide on the BlueSpice website, together with a download containing both MediaWiki and Bluespice. I am curious about how this will work out
  24. Well done Nigel! I am curious about the answer.
