  1. Hi Michael, first you have to enter your focal length of your scope in: obsorvatory/telescope/ site/ than you can solve one of your frames and in the same window (obsorvatory/telescope) "center on image" the "calibrate" buttom will be activated if your mount is connected. If you click you can choose "use pinpoint" and now maximdl knows how many arcsec per pixel you have and also the rotation angle of the camera. You can click on any point on your frames and select "move here". :-) Hope it helps. BR Thomas
  2. Hi Jay, I have a starlight sxvr-h16 and an Atik 460exm. And also with my old Atik314L it has been the same. I thought it is something wrong with the fits header because if I save the fits in a diffent programm again then maxpilote can show the images. My imaging software is maximdl Thomas
  3. Jay, Very interessting that you are using maxpilote. I have tried in the past but maxpilote never show my fits. It shows just black, also in maxviewer. The programmer seems not to be very interested in helping with this issue. When I open and save the fits in Pixinsight it works but not the original fits out of the cameras taken with maximdl. Maybe you have a tip for me. Thx and br
  4. It seems that I'm not blind just sequence not allow this basic thing. I will add it to the wich list. BR Thomas
  5. Hi all, since my focuser work in sequence I play a little more around with the program. Its little kind of magic if the whole image sessions works automaticly. But i have a problem adding a second sequence while the first set ist always running. I have try just to add and set the checkmark, but it doesn't work. It stops after the first object has finished. I try the run now button, but then the first sequence will abort and the second will start. how do you add more sequences (object) while runnning another one. maybe it is simple, but maybe I'm blind thx and br Thomas
  6. Hi Max, could you quote a picture of your setup. I didn't understand why RA should be not balanced in all positions. Normally it much easy then DE because you have no off axis weight. Thomas

    Focusing

Hi all, one question about focusing with sequenz. Are the units for the offset really in mm? And in the autofocus menu also? I asked beause there is no chance to tell sequenz the stepsize of my hires stepper? So how sequenz will do know how many steps are necessary i.e. 2mm. ? Or are you using all the offests in maxmDL? Thanks and best regards Thomas
  8. Nigel, you have a flawlessly working system, so don't touch it. What will you get if updating to win10? Maybe problems and a idiotic userinferface and where are the benefits? Thomas PS. switching off auto updates is also a good plan for a stable system.
  9. Hi Mike, thank you for the picture. But it is also possible to program the buttons 4, 5 or 8, 9 on the back of the pad. I prefer 4 and 5 for the fast an turbo settings, which, allows me to slew the mount with only one hand. And the most important button for me: If you press the mode button you activate the digital cross on the left to control the direction of the slew. What I liked to now is, what are the special function 1 und 2 meantioned in the manual? I have never used them. br Thomas
  10. Hi Ian, are you sure that it always synchronize with the gps when you start autoslew? I thought it will be synchronized just one time if I click on it. There is no check mark or something similar. Best regards Thomas

Hi Ron, beautiful image! Congrats. For me it is also interesting that you write up short notes about your prosessing steps. One little remark: The star shapes looks a few little steps from being perfect. But nonetheless top image. CS, Thomas
  12. Hi all, in the past I use Sequence just to make pointing files most of the time. Last night I tried to run Sequence for the hole process of imaging incl. guiding and focusing. I used autoslew 5.2.1.9 with seq 0.2.0.9 Two problems appears. I tried to run a sequence with two targets with two different exposures files. All had been started fine but in the end sequence stops the different slots too early. In the log file I found that it had been stopped when the guide star was faded. This happended on both targets after 6 to 7 L-frames. 01:06:57.189: Saved Image C:\ProgramData\ASA\Sequence\Images\\2016-03-9\M99-L-0006.fits 01:06:57.189: Time since last Autofocus = 7,6 minutes 01:06:57.205: Dithering now with X=-0,5 pix Y=0,2 pix 01:07:43.302: Errorcode = Tracking Failed 01:07:43.333: ************************************************************************ 01:07:43.333: Starting Sequence on Target C:\ProgramData\ASA\Sequence\Target Files\NGC4490.trg with Exposure settings C:\ProgramData\ASA\Sequence\ExposureSettings\L_240s.exp 01:07:43.333: Running now Nr. 1 of this Sequence 01:07:43.333: Starting Sequence C:\ProgramData\ASA\Sequence\Target Files\NGC4490.trg 01:07:43.333: Target RA: 12h31m24,2s DE: +41d32m30s Is there any option to avoid to do this after the first faded guided star? Maybe after 10 times or the option to ignore this like in MaximDL itself? The second problem is that autofocusing runs quite well but measuring a V-curve Slope failed. 13. Hi Daniel, you can see it in the AZ800 video. "the easiest option is to use the "dummy" buttons, but now I want to show the full calculation and results" They went only in the advanced menu to show it in detail and to compare the different methods. If you choose "normal" in "calculate config" the superfit will be used. I always have superfit-corrections when I do my 32 star grid. BR Thomas
  14. Hi all, I'm wondering that you use the advanced menu for find a way to calculating the super fit model. From my understanding it is sufficient to click "load autopointing file" in the toolbar and to choose "normal" under "calculate configuration". If You use enough stars the super fit is used automaticly. BR Thomas
  15. Hi Lluis Do you solve the problem? BR Thomas
  16. Hi Michael, do you have done this already? I have found it in the autoslew description on page 68. BR Thomas
  17. Hi all, I'd like to write me a grib file with three stars with the same same dec, like the Polaralign grib already is in sequence. I just want to have smaller distances between the stars because if I use a long focal length with my small chip, the polaralign with the laser is sometimes not accurate enough to solve the third plate. How I have to interpret the numbers in a grib file, so that I can write my own with the stars in same dec? BR Thomas
  18. Hallo? Is it possible that you activate dithering via mount in Maximdl? Kind regards Thomas
  19. Hi Mike, I received your email but answering here because you oben this thread also. To contol the minipc at the telescope I use teamviewer also. Its reliable, fast, easy to use and there are ios and android apps also, so that you can use cellphone and tablet in addition. And the best, its free for non commercial. For me one of the best software ever. 40m with WLAN sounds not easy to me. I'm using a lan cable at home. But you have alternatives mentioned above. Reliable is the most important thing for me when talking about remote. So I will use cables whereever I can. BR Thomas
  20. Hi Robert, very interesting. I always use Jnow in Autoslew and also in MaximDL. and if I do a plate solve in Maxim and sync the image centre I check Jnow also. Do you now what Sequence is showing and using when syncing? BR Thomas
  21. Time runs by. Are there any news or ideas to the above problem? I still wondering why a sync in sequence still find an offset, also if I made a sync in maxim seconds before with the same frame. BR Thomas
  22. Hi Mike, Yes you are right, its a link between the mount and the laptop. It stands right beside the pier. So it doesn't matter how far I will be away. If you are not planing to do something like this, I don't see any advantage for you. A laptop or netbook will work fine also. If I'm using laptops I always use them to surf the internet etc. So I have to use additional programs like firewalls or antivirus Software, wich I don't need and like to have on my dedicated astro pc . Thats all. Best regards Thomas
  23. Hi, I use also a Mini PC. It's based on a Intel Celeron Dual Core 1,3 Mhz with 4 MB Ram. All Software I needed is working flawlessly and simultaneously : - Autoslew - Sequenz - MaximDL 5.24 - PinPoint - TheSky6 - Focusmax - Teamviewer - Ascom6 - etc. I like those MiniPC in addition to a laptop. With the laptop and teamviewer I run the MiniPC remotely from inside my apartment (LAN), or in the field from a caravan or tent (WLAN). Here is a picture of the miniPC I've mounted in a box.
