  1. Yes, absolutely! To move forward in a project: 1/ Put aside all constraints, difficulties, negative points (temporarily) 2/ Dedicate itself only to the advantages; 3/ Indeed, advantages cannot be invented! 4/ There is not enough advantages stop the project! 5/ If the advantages are rewarding, being enough for justifying the effort: list the constraints (only now) 6/ The constraints can beings by-passed (by an organization), while the advantages cannot be invented. 7/ Is the organization, to by-pass the constraints, justified with regard to the advantages? 8/ If not. Stop the project. 9/ If yes: Get to work! At present, it is necessary to get ready mentally to accept the point 1 (the more difficult in all projects J). Then, put down in writing elements of the point 2. The point 3 is a report. At the moment, useless to go farther: the advantages at first! To you to say... The first advantages that I can bring: - I save 6 k€ by not going in Namibia during two weeks. - I save up a 75€ / hour of rent of a good quality distant telescope. Remark : I don't have an automated setup. This project is for you… La Cebra
  2. Hi, 1/ Some members in this forum live in the southern hemisphere. In some discussions, they write that some objects are not visible for them (too much in the North) 2/ Some members live in the north hemisphere. They say the same thing, but in the South. 3/ Some members automated totally their observatory/setup to benefit from a good quality sky in some hundred km from their home. It is expensive. 4/ Some people, as us European, set two weeks of their holidays in the other hemisphere (Namibia for us), to make subframes there. It is expensive. 5/ Thanks to internet it is as well easy to pilot its telescope in 1 km, as an other one in 20.000km It is free. 6/ It could be very exciting to photograph objects that we know only as legends. But what we can never know otherwise of its life, that as a legend. 7/ Numerous configurations consist of DDM60 - DDM85 + ASA 10N - ASA 12N The software are different, sometimes. 8/ How do you imagine a "stock exchange" of hours of photography, between opposite hemispheres? To share it's to grow rich. La Cebra The first one who corrects english of this message can send me it in private message, and indicating this below. (A single correction should be enough for me ) I shall replace it here. (I don't know how to do better ) So, we shall already double the number of readers having understood this subject
  3. Hi, Several people possess similar telescopes in this forum: DDM85 + ASA 12N (for example) For those who possess automated monitoring observatories (it is not my case at present)... It would be fascinating to exchange hours of photography to work in the opposite hemisphere. It would be cheaper for us (northern hemisphere) than to go two weeks for holidays in Namibia. La Cebra
  4. I also think of it. But, if somebody opens a DDM85 mount one day... It would be the moment of to know more about it!
  5. Hi Andrew, Your problem does not still exist for me. I begin at present. But I understand: - Sometimes my camera refuses to connect to Maxim DL (I have to go out, switch off it, relight it); - Sometimes Team Viewer changes the code of identification in laptop computer (I have to go out, read the new code, return to home); I could not thus work with an observatory, but you, cannot go to sleep I can ! Because when everything is settled, the images follow each other quite the night. But the quality level for which I wait is much lesser than yours (at the moment). A solution would be to insert a program inside the flow ASCOM (to read the flow - to modify it - to re-emit(re-utter) it modified). I do not yet know how to intercept this flow. If somebody know how ???? Then it would be possible to stabilize the value of the focuseur in a range of some microns. If somebody knows how to intercept the flow ASCOM (with an example) I am inclined to think about it. La Cebra
  6. Thank you Lukas. I have made SetNewHomePosition. Now, in the starting up, the counterweight and the tube are horizontal and vertical. I would like to see a photo of the fixation of the absolute encoders on the mount. To understand... See you soon. La Cebra
  7. Hello Andrew, I use an AAF3 since March, 2017. With ASA 12N. Mine also oscillates between several values, of some microns, permanently. I am still novice, thus I cannot know if it is a problem, or no … On the other hand, when I make an absolute positioning: 6.620mm it works well (but with then an oscillation). When I make a relative movement, with ACC : +/-20 microns for example, and which I begin again several times, the result moves gradually. For example: 6.639mm(instead of 6.640mm), 6.658mm(instead of 6.660mm), 6.676mm(6.680mm), 6.695mm(6.700mm), etc. Then ,I have to make an absolute positioning in: 6.670mm!!! I haven't still credibility to assert it more. La Cebra
  8. Hi, I do not speak English. Thus, you will read the continuation at your own risk. J DDM85 standard + 12N: mars 2017 + QSI 683wsg Every night… 1- I verify with a level the horizontality of the base of the mount, 4 independent measures. 2- I start AutoSlew Version 5.2.3.1. 3- I verify my geographical position: Mount -> Location -> Latitude and longitude (with http://www.mapcoordinates.net/fr) 4- I verify the hour of the computer: http://www.horlogeparlante.com 5- I connect engines " Motor is ON ". 6- Balance Ok 7- PID sidereal ok J – PID slewing always very doubtful… L 8- I verify the values of "Park 1 Zenith" : Mount -> Park Positions -> Set new Parkpositions -> Zenith -> Az: 180 Alt: 90 – East -> Cancel 9- I click the icon " House 1 " (what's its habitual name ?) 10- I click the icon "White right arrow on green bottom" (what's its habitual name ?) 11- The telescope turns to the zenith. Almost… … … 12- The counterweight shaft is in the East. 13- The counterweight shaft is too much raised in east of 2° (14mm for 400mm measured) 14- The top of the tube is tilted to the south of 3 ° (20mm for 370mm) 15- This error is systematic, and very precise (absolute encoders - false here but reproducible !) 16- I take a photo such as. 17- I look in Stellarium where I am lost (near zenith). 18- The error measured from zenith by Stellarium is regularly 3° 40' 19- I center one of the stars in this picture. 20- I make Sync in Stellarium (Ctrl+3). 21- I slew to NGC4565. In the center of sensor J 22- The problem is solved until the next day. 23- I don't find the page of the documentation concerning this situation? 24- But… exists in Menus : Mount - > Set new homeposition - > Please confirm that the telescope up is synched and centred and you want to define has new Offset for the Home-Reference mark. "Synched" with what? "Centred" on what? what is "Home-reference" ? what's the goal of this? I don't use this L 25- After several cycles Pointing File, and Polar Align (< 1 arcmin), imaging of 900s of NGC4565 show the beginning of the strain of stars. When everything goes well. It's very rare… Picture is here : https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ar8edxoouov4fgQNLj4xuKs82-g 26- I have many other problems important to solve, after J 27- Thank you for your help. La Cebra
  9. ¡Estupendo! ¡Maravilloso! I need 10 years more know how to make this ! Hasta luego! La Cebra
  10. 1/ The documentation exists, why isn't it given to the customers? I share it here : AAF3 Assembly - https://1drv.ms/b/s!Ar8edxoouov4dBCWggXUZLo7XTk 2/ It is necessary to make oneself the system of rotation for the camera, from now on (today)! I would accept drawings of those who have already succeed in this, to adapt them, then to make them, here Without RedWheel, but knurled knobs
  11. Thank you Mark for your explanation. The plan is joined here, to confirm. I asked for the delivery of the rotating part, which is lacking. AstroImagen - España. Can you tell me how are called these objects, in English: knurled knobs? Pictures : - https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ar8edxoouov4ctyUpa3gxQfctbg - https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ar8edxoouov4c9uvYZwr1iBHMig
  12. Thank you, Mark, for your help. I had well read your previous remark as for the specific use of the Red Wheel. Two new photos showing the Wynne Corrector. The (small ?) backfocus of this camera QSI 683 does not allow to install a system for rotation? The red arrow shows a (1/3) conical screw for blocking of the corrector on the focuser. It would be the only option to turn the camera ... Thank you. Fabrice Pictures : - https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ar8edxoouov4cZvq1THsdj2NkrI - https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ar8edxoouov4cJGWIyahqlQtteY

  14. Hello to everyone, Still excuse my English I begin to inventory parts : DDM85S - 12 "- AAF-3 It's about focuser AAF-3. I used the Ikea method adapted for ASA: which introduces into whom? There is no more red wheel, as planned, but nothing to replace it in my parcels. Thus it is impossible to rotate the image of the camera ! No part can turn. I have three grubscrews, and maybe 4 screws for fixation of the system ... Misses me a part of the rotation system? Thank you for your experience. 15. Good evening, Thank you Christer for your work. 1/ Some "given input" lost since 2016 could be found by them creators? 2/The psychologists, who would participate in this forum, can write me to give me some explanations : the motivations / diseases of the destroyers of sites as this one. See you soon. La Cebra
  16. Hi Mark, I looked, too, for the origin of this bluish ring... ??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_94 "M94 contains both an inner ring with a diameter of 70 arcseconds and an outer ring with a diameter of 600 arcseconds. These rings appear to form at resonance locations within the disk of the galaxy. The inner ring is the site of strong star formation activity and is sometimes referred to as a starburst ring. This star formation is fueled by gas that is dynamically driven into the ring by the inner oval-shaped bar-like structure. A 2009 study conducted by an international team of astrophysicists revealed that the outer ring of M94 is not a closed stellar ring, as historically attributed in the literature, but a complex structure of spiral arms when viewed in mid-IR and UV. The study found that the outer disk of this galaxy is active. It contains approximately 23% of the galaxy's total stellar mass and contributes about 10% of the galaxy's new stars. In fact, the star formation rate of the outer disk is approximately two times greater than the inner disk because it is more efficient per unit of stellar mass. There are several possible external events that could have led to the origin of M94's outer disk including the accretion of a satellite galaxy or the gravitational interaction with a nearby star system. However, further research found problems with each of these scenarios. Therefore, the report concludes that the inner disk of M94 is an oval distortion which led to the creation of this galaxy's peripheral disk."
  17. Hi Mark, "...the end of almost a year of bad weather in this part of the world..." ? 2016, year with El Niño in Australia ? La Cebra
  18. Hello, I don't speak English. I use a translation software to write here. I learnt the bases of the astronomical photography a few years ago (since 2012). I used at first Celestron CGEM-1100 of my club, with a Cannon EOS-60D. Then a RCX400-10" rather old, with a camera QSI 683 wsg-5. I learnt a lot, but without photo clear. But, no photo was satisfactory for me, they were are not rather clear... I did not want to undergo any more the periodic errors, coma in angles, and diffuse images. I wait in the next weeks for DDM85 mount and 12N OTA. It is a little bit presumptuous as evolution. I am well conscious of it. The telescope will be more successful/powerfull than me for several years. Maybe you will give me some explanations about my first results: Defect --> Cause --> Solution. At present, I am looking for dew shield for the 12N. Thus your advice will be welcome. Thank you for receiving me among you ! Fabrice
