  1. Hi again Lluis, Thanks for answering from China :-) I did it myself. ASA did not really like that, but it is a bit nonsense to send the mount back for a lot of money, to have a part replaced that only costs a bit and you can easily replace yourself if you are a little handy... Mine was a DDM60 Pro, so a bit different from a DDM85, but that should not be a problem either. Let me know if you need help by phone or mail. BR Waldemar
  2. Hi Lluis, Thanks for the information. I wonder if this Silex DS-600 can be connected straight to the ethernet connection of the computer, so it can serve as a USB-ethernet converter, and how long the cat cable can be. Thank you in advance for your appreciated answer. Best Regards, Waldemar edit: By the way the real problem may have been the internal USB hub. Happened to me too. I replaced it and everything worked fine again.
  3. You're welcome, John. You won't regret trying
  4. Yep, that is what I am doing, too. Just using a SX maxi Filterwheel with build in OAG and LodeStar 2 guidecamera. No MLPT or Sequence ... And as a bonus you can use SGP as well... I really think the no guiding possibility is not that important, other features of the mount are far more interesting. Saves a lot of hassle to use a guiding cam! MaxIm as well as SGP are absolutely capable of replacing Sequence totally. Not to talk about FocusMax... Makes life a lot easier!
  5. In maxim setup: observatory - telescope - ASCOM telescope chooser = astrooptik server telescope.- This should work...
  6. Thanks Jay, I will download and try the MountWizzard software anyway, it seems to run with ascom mounts, so should work...I guess...
  7. Hi Jay, Did you try this programm with your DDM60?
  8. I bought my DDM60Pro secondhand in 2010 (it was never used) and had it upgraded in 2012. ASA did not only upgrade the encoders, but also the electronic boards and the backend of the RA axis with the connectors. I needed to change the cables, because the new connections are a bit different. No need for RS232-USB converters anymore. Never regretted I had it done. Still working perfectly.
  9. All best wishes to the ASA team and all forum members and their loved ones. Waldemar and family
  10. Beautifull picture, Antonio!! I love your choice of targets... Curious about your results with the Moravian G3-16200 Waldemar
  11. That is really amazing! there is still so much to learn... Thanks for all the images you share on this forum! You are an inspiration! Waldemar

    WIKI for ASA

It would also be very nice, if ASA provided us with the latest knowledge and (upgrade) possibillities of the mounts, so that can be used in the wiki... That would be the best ASA could do for it's (potential) customers and it is long over due. It is almost impossible for users to find out by themselves what all the hidden possibillities are without any help from you guys. Sometimes we really feel kind of deserted by you... Waldemar

    WIKI for ASA

So, a mix... That would be great. The best of both worlds. I got an old AS manual from Robert, that was intended for professional users it seems. A lot of stuff in there that is not mentioned in the old, nor the new manuals I don't know if you got them too, but it maybe a nice resource as well.

    WIKI for ASA

Hi Nigel, Totally with you on points 2,4 and 5 for the wiki. 1 I think the forum is a better place for that. That is a bit more accessible for fast answers. 3 is already covered in an understandable way by the new ASA documentation 6...well I think a wiki is not the right place for that Like I said before, the new ASA documentation which was posted here a little while ago is far better than the old manuals. Thanks for all the effort you guys put into this. I realise this is a major task... Just my 2 €cents, Waldemar
  16. If your processor cannot deal with W10, it would just not upgrade to it, so I don't think that is the problem. Maybe you can update the |FTDI driver to version 12216. That one works great on my laptop with the latest W10 anniversery version 1607 update. When I updated to this anniversery version, I had to reinstall some drivers, because windows filed them in another place I think.

    WIKI for ASA

I had no problems either with W10 and Google.
  18. Josch, You will have to start TheSky with administrator rights, even if you are the only user. If you don't, ascom will not work. Waldemar
  19. Hi Josch, Did you choose Astrooptic Server Telescope? Maybe you can upgrade to The Sky X. No problems there with W10 and Autoslew. Waldemar
  20. It is very important to use the right serial key, Josch The last 4 digits set the magnetic angle in the software. If they are not correct, your mount will not do what you expect it to do. I am not aware of any method to get around that or find out which it should be. Maybe better ask ASA for the key. There is a serial number on your mount and no doubt they will have a file with all serial number - key code combinations If windows updated to the new anniversery version, some drivers may have been lost or relocated, but a re-installation of the drivers and/or software should fix that problem. I had some problems with the drivers for my SX cameras and filterwheel after updating, but that was fixed by re-installing them. Waldemar
  21. How about vibrations of the pier or tripod? I experienced some problems with vibrations caused by a 'rat-cage' on my pier. Waldemar
  22. Hi Wessel, welcome to the club of the not so fainthearted, but in the end very happy ASA owners! Waldemar
  23. I had the same little 'problem' with W-10 and PinPoint. Re-installed PinPoint...problem gone. Basically I am far happier with W10 than with all the other versions. To me this is the most stable version uptill now. And fast! Even the FTDI 'issue' did not cause any problems on my laptop. Windows 7 an 8 were a p.i.t.a. to me. I always thought XP was a lot better, but W10 works for me on all levels. Waldemar
  24. This is like a 3D image... beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Waldemar
  25. Since there is allways the possibillity to make a ink to the ASA manuals, just as is done here, I don't understand what the problem would be...
